親民黨總統參選人宋楚瑜今（11）日出訪花蓮表示，未來將好好發展藍色公路，同時點出目前花東運輸交通上兩大問題，若不加強路上運輸，對於蘇花公路來講，是相當擁擠且危險的。

宋楚瑜今日到花蓮「找朋友」行程，他認為現今政府沒有好好發展海上運輸，讓觀光旅客通通仰賴蘇花公路運輸，他同時也提出兩點問題，說明為什麼應好好發展海上運輸。

宋楚瑜指出，第一點，現在到花蓮的載運量絕大多數都是用遊覽車，一年有大約三百萬觀光人口運用蘇花公路，而火車及航空可能僅近百萬，蘇且蘇花公路下面是海，旁邊就是懸崖峭壁，公路有風化可能性，安全問題堪慮，雖蘇花改正在興建，但不知何時才會完工。

宋楚瑜表示，第二點，日本也是島國，他們在海路運輸上相當發達，同樣是島國的台灣，應該也要好好發展海上觀光，讓各國觀光客都能看見台灣東海岸的美。
